FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

Answers to common B2B questions about cannabis toll processing, extraction, vape cart manufacturing, and wholesale distillate from BSD Labs in Waseca, MN.

Toll Processing

What is cannabis toll processing?+
Toll processing is a fee-for-service arrangement where you retain ownership of your biomass and the resulting extract throughout the entire process. You deliver your licensed cannabis biomass to BSD Labs, we extract and refine it, and return the finished concentrate to you along with full documentation. You pay a processing fee — the "toll" — rather than giving up a share of your product.
How much does toll processing cost?+
Pricing depends on biomass volume, moisture content, desired end-product (crude oil, distillate, or further refined), and current facility capacity. Contact us for a custom quote. We are transparent on pricing and will provide a detailed breakdown before any agreement is signed.
What is your minimum batch size for toll processing?+
Contact us to discuss your specific volume and situation. We work with cultivators at various scales and can advise on what makes economic sense given your biomass quality and target output.
How long does toll processing take?+
Once your biomass arrives at our facility with a valid COA from a state-licensed testing lab, we typically complete extraction and refinement within 1–2 weeks depending on run complexity and current capacity. Note that Minnesota's current testing backlog means your COA may take 4–7 weeks to arrive — factor this into your production timeline.
Do I need to have my biomass tested before you process it?+
Yes. Under Minnesota OCM regulations, all cannabis biomass must have a valid Certificate of Analysis from a state-licensed testing lab before it can be processed by a licensed manufacturer. We cannot legally accept untested material.

Extraction & Manufacturing

What extraction methods do you offer?+
BSD Labs offers cryo-ethanol extraction, hydrocarbon (BHO) extraction, and solventless extraction. Cryo-ethanol is our primary method for high-volume distillate production. Hydrocarbon extraction preserves delicate terpene profiles for live resin and premium concentrates. Solventless (ice water and rosin press) produces the purest expression of the plant with no solvents.
How do you ensure quality and consistency?+
Every extraction run at BSD Labs follows documented SOPs developed by our head chemist. We monitor all critical parameters — solvent temperature, extraction time, filtration quality — throughout the run. Post-extraction, all material undergoes winterization, filtration, and decarboxylation before distillation. Every finished batch is tested by an independent, state-licensed third-party laboratory with results provided to you in a full COA.
Are you licensed to process adult-use cannabis in Minnesota?+
Yes. BSD Labs holds an active cannabis manufacturer license issued by the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management (OCM). We are fully licensed to process, manufacture, and distribute adult-use cannabis products in compliance with all OCM regulations.

Wholesale Distillate

What is the minimum order for wholesale distillate?+
Contact us to discuss current inventory and minimum order quantities. We sell wholesale distillate in bulk to licensed Minnesota cannabis manufacturers, brands, and retailers. Pricing scales with volume.
What potency does your distillate test at?+
Our multi-pass distillation process consistently produces cannabis distillate testing at 90%+ total cannabinoids. Every batch comes with a full COA from an independent third-party lab showing potency, residual solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, and microbials.

Vape Cart Manufacturing

Do you offer white-label vape cartridge manufacturing?+
Yes. BSD Labs provides full-service white-label vape cartridge manufacturing — distillate filling, custom terpene profiles, and assembly. We produce 510-thread cartridges and all-in-one disposables. You brand the product, we manufacture it to your specifications with full OCM compliance and third-party COA documentation.
Can I bring my own hardware for vape cart manufacturing?+
Yes, we can work with customer-supplied hardware in many cases. Contact us to discuss your specific hardware and whether it is compatible with our filling process. We also have preferred hardware vendors if you need sourcing guidance.
What terpene options are available for vape cartridges?+
We offer both cannabis-derived terpenes (CDTs) and botanical-derived terpenes (BDTs) depending on your product goals and budget. CDTs provide the most authentic cannabis flavor profile; BDTs offer more consistent supply and lower cost. We can formulate custom strain-specific profiles or work from your existing formulation.
